EV charger installation questions
Do I need a dedicated circuit for an EV charger?
A typical residential Level 2 installation needs a dedicated 240-volt circuit sized for the charger and the available electrical capacity. We evaluate the wiring, breaker, charging settings and manufacturer requirements; an ordinary shared household circuit is not a substitute.
Can you install a Tesla Wall Connector?
Yes. Precision Electrical Solutions Group LLC installs Tesla Wall Connectors and their dedicated electrical circuits. We review the equipment model, mounting location, panel capacity and cable reach, then plan the installation to the manufacturer requirements and applicable electrical code.
Can my existing panel handle an EV charger?
It may. Empty breaker spaces alone do not establish available capacity. We review the service rating and existing electrical loads and perform a load calculation for the proposed charger. The result determines whether the existing panel is suitable or whether a different charging setting, compatible load management or electrical upgrades should be considered.
Do EV charger installations require permits?
Installing a new EV charging circuit or hardwired charger generally requires an electrical permit and inspection. Requirements depend on the property and local building department. We review the applicable process for your address and identify permit and inspection responsibilities in the estimate before work begins.
What is the difference between a NEMA 14-50 outlet and a hardwired Level 2 charger?
A NEMA 14-50 is a 240-volt receptacle used with compatible plug-in charging equipment; the outlet itself is not a charger. A hardwired Level 2 charger connects directly to its circuit. Both need correctly sized wiring and protection. The best choice depends on the charger, panel capacity, installation location and manufacturer instructions.
Do you install EV chargers in Lathrop, Manteca and Tracy?
Yes. Precision Electrical Solutions Group LLC serves homeowners in Lathrop, Manteca, Tracy, Stockton and surrounding service areas. Contact us with your city, charger model and proposed parking location to discuss an installation estimate.
PG&E Trade Ally Network application in progress. Precision Electrical Solutions Group LLC is working toward participation in PG&E’s Trade Ally Network for residential EV charging. Approval is pending and program participation and rebate eligibility are subject to PG&E requirements.
Tell us your city, vehicle and charger model, whether you already own the charger, and where you want it installed. Photos of the closed electrical panel, garage or parking space, proposed wiring route and charger label help us prepare. Do not remove panel covers for photos.
What affects the installation estimate?
Panel capacity, charging requirements, distance to the charger, wiring access and any trenching or restoration affect the scope. We distinguish the electrical installation from the charger itself so you can see what is included.
Will I need a panel upgrade?
That depends on the existing electrical system and the proposed charging load. An evaluation is needed before deciding whether an upgrade or another suitable approach is necessary. We discuss applicable permits and inspections as part of planning.
